Draw No Bet explained: rules, examples and when it fits

Learn how draw no bet works, what happens to your stake if a match is drawn, and how the market differs from double chance.
Draw no bet is a football betting market that removes the draw as a losing outcome. If the team you back wins, the bet is settled as a win; if the match is drawn, your stake is returned.
It can be useful to understand the market when you want to back one side but want different protection from a standard win-or-draw-or-loss selection. The key is knowing that it protects against a draw, not against your team being beaten.
How draw no bet works
A draw no bet selection is based on one team winning. If that team wins, the bet wins. If the match ends level, the market is settled as void and your original stake is returned; if the other team wins, your bet loses.
For a simple hypothetical example, imagine staking £10 on a team at decimal odds of 2.00. If that team wins, the total return would be £20, including your £10 stake. If the match is drawn, you get the £10 stake back, while a defeat means the stake is lost.
The refund on a draw is not a profit: your money is simply returned. Check the market rules before placing a bet, as the selection and settlement terms should be clear on the betting site.
Draw no bet versus double chance
Both markets can offer cover against one result, but they settle differently. A home-or-draw double chance bet wins if the home team wins or the match is drawn, and loses if the away team wins. With home draw no bet, a draw returns the stake instead of counting as a win.
That difference affects the outcome you are backing. Double chance treats two results as winning outcomes, while draw no bet only wins if your selected team wins. The draw is a refund with draw no bet, not a successful result.
For example, if a match is drawn, a winning home-or-draw double chance selection pays out according to its odds, while a home draw no bet selection returns the stake. If the home team wins, both selections can win; if it loses, both lose.
When draw no bet may fit
Draw no bet may suit a match where you favour one team but consider a draw a meaningful possibility. It lets you back that team to win while avoiding a lost stake if the game finishes level. The market can be considered in different competitions and match contexts; the key is the way its settlement matches your view.
It does not protect you if the team you selected loses, so it is not the same as backing that team to avoid defeat. Compare the market with the available alternatives and consider whether the possible return is appropriate for the outcomes you are covering. All betting carries risk, including the possibility of losing your stake.
